The future of hydropower

Unleashing hydropower
potential

SeaPattern develops an integrated, end-to-end system of floating turbines that raises electricity output at existing hydropower stations. The solution can add 1–3 GWh per plant per year. No new dams, no new environmental impact.

The shift

Hydropower stands still. Europe's need for fossil-free electricity and energy resilience is rising.

We're part of the solution.

01

40 years of stagnation

Most of Europe's hydropower plants were built before 1960, and the technology has barely improved since the 1990s. Capacity has stood still for 40 years, even as the demands for more output, flexibility and energy resilience keep rising.

02

More clean, locally produced power

Electricity demand is growing faster than new capacity. And in a new security climate, it's not only about more power, but about power produced locally, on demand and independent of the weather. Hydropower is the backbone of that system.

03

New builds take ten years

A new hydropower plant requires major intervention, lengthy permitting and often a decade from decision to operation. The fastest route to more clean power runs through the plants that already exist.

How it works

An integrated, end-to-end system for existing hydropower

SeaPattern delivers a complete solution for increasing output at existing hydropower plants. Through advanced analysis of each site, we optimize the placement of our floating hydrokinetic turbines for maximum energy production. The system integrates with the existing infrastructure and connects to the grid — with no new dams and no interventions in the watercourse.

Solution

Three markets. One system.

The same technology, three applications. We start where the impact is greatest.

Impact

No new dams. Minimal environmental impact.

SeaPattern's system is installed without new dams or interventions in the watercourse. The choice of turbine is based on research focused on low environmental impact, and its environmental properties have been validated through scientific studies.
